Top Oenology Students 2021
Lara Barnard was the top student at the Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute for 2021 and Stephanie Joubert top of her class at the Viticulture and Oenology Department of the University of Stellenbosch.
Lara grew up on the banks of the Orange River in the Northern Cape. She is passionate about winemaking in general and wants to become a successful winemaker. She will spend the 2022 vintage at Cederberg Winery after which she would like to explore a winemaking opportunity abroad.
Stephanie’s passion lies with traditional winemaking techniques. She however is also interested in modern advancements in wine. She will spend the 2022 vintage at Antonij Rupert Wine Estate in Franschhoek. After that she is hoping to enrol as a student with the September 2022 intake at the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France to study a MSc in Wine and Spirits Management.
