Lallemand prize awarded for the 20th time
Lallemand South Africa in collaboration with the South African Society for Enology and Viticulture recently awarded the Lallemand prize for the 20th time. Each year the two best Oenology students from the University of Stellenbosch as well as the Elsenburg Agricultural college receive this prize. The 2019 prize winners are Shannon Morse from the University of Stellenbosch and Schalk Van Deventer from Elsenburg.
Currently Shannon is completing the harvest at Thelema Mountain Vineyards, Stellenbosch. For the future she plans on setting up her own small-scale vineyards for the making of boutique wines.
Schalk took up a position at Muratie winery close to Stellenbosch to further his career. His plans for the next two to three years include doing two vintages a year. His first stop for the upcoming Northern Hemisphere vintage would be Chateau Montelena in Calistoga, California.
