George Clayton Cone, of Union City, CA, passed away on April 7, 2018, due to complications from Parkinson’s and cancer. He was born in Lakeland, FL. on November 20, 1928. He was a technical expert and consultant in yeast fermentation. He shared his expertise around the world with wineries, breweries and distilleries. He received two Honorary Doctorate Degrees for his research and development in fermentation technologies. Clayton was a mentor to many at Lallemand and a key figure in the world of wine fermentation.
Clayton was survived by his wife, Terry, of 27 years of union, his children Philip and Cynthia, his stepsons Steve, Rich, Rob and Ray and his grandchildren Tiffany and Logan. The Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, April 14, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Parkinson’s and Cancer foundations.
